Question: I'm finding it very difficult to potty train 3 puppies at the same time? Help they are 4 months old?

Hi Sue,

thanks for your questions about training for your young puppies. It is really hard to understand why a young puppy would be crying at night if it is still lucky enough to be snuggling up with its litter mates. This is an unusual circumstance as by 4 months old pups have normally transitioned into their human home and have to adjust to sleeping alone. I would suggest you ensure the little one that is crying is not getting ousted by bullying litter mates and ending up on a cold floor whilst the rest are cuddled up together. In regards to house training these pups, they need to be spending plenty of time outdoors on the substrate you want them to end up eliminating on, preferably grass or something that is quite different from what one finds indoors. So, confining them in a small area indoors with plenty of visits outside and rewarding them when they eliminate in the right place. Any unsupervised time indoors needs to be in a small restricted area to reduce the likelihood of them toiletting on the wrong substrate/location.  It is also very important that these pups have experience at meeting new dogs that are not their siblings, so I would strongly advise attending a puppy school with them so they can be trained around other dogs too and make some new friends.
